We do not have a legal terms of use yet but to maintain clarity on how we intend to provide our service, please consider the following points:
We try to provide our services “as is” in the way they are reflected in all the pages associated with our league site/blog/emails but we do not provide any guarantee or warranty as such.
Since the whole league is going to take place online using distributed and centralised internet technologies most of which you might already be familiar with, there might be instances where you might face technical issues which might affect your game play. We cannot be held accountable to those events and their consequences.
The right to make the final decision in any case of conflict among the players or between players and management, belongs to the management.
We will give you a full refund (minus any processing fees, if any) if you wish to drop off and if you inform this to us through email two days before the start of Season 2 (to be added). We will not be able to accept any cancellations or refunds after this date since the fixtures will already be made after this date, including you as a participant.
If you are removed part way through the league due to confirmed cases of harassment or cheating, you will not receive any refund.
The refunds would be processed from our end by the end of July 2024.
Only persons 18 years or above, are allowed to participate in this league. If you are a minor in your country, you agree that you are entering this quiz league with the permission of your parent(s)/guardian(s).
We hold the rights to the question sets, and you agree that by participating in this league, that you will not share it with anyone else while a season is currently in play. Once a season finishes, we will make the sets of that season PUBLIC and FREE to use through our website.
You will be expelled from the league if you’re caught sharing the sets of the current game-week with anyone else (which amounts to cheating). Strict disciplinary action will be taken against participants/readers sharing the sets of an ongoing season with anyone else.
We welcome your feedback and will try to implement it in the next season.
The content of this document might change without notice, but major changes will be communicated with the participants.
By signing up for the league you are agreeing to consent to the above mentioned information.
Reader benefits
Readers will get a League Credit of 20% of the base price (amount with one mandatory read) for each game read. This can be used for future seasons of EMU Quiz League.
Or Readers will get 15% of the base price as cash for each game read. This amount will be distributed at the end of the season (within two weeks of the end of the league).
Every participant can read as many games as they want, barring the practical limits of reading games. So, the reader League Credits/cash can be higher than the registration fee. Participants can join this WhatsApp group for easy coordination on reading. External readers can join this WhatsApp group.
We will be sending you a season completion form to fill at the end of the league so that you can inform us what to do with your League Credits. There are several options:
1) You can choose to cash it immediately after the league.
2) You can choose to save the League Credits of 100% of the registration fee, for any future seasons. This is future-proof for up to three succeeding seasons i.e. even if the registration fee increases, you wouldn’t have to pay anything extra. On the other hand, we will not be awarding any leftover League Credits, if our registration fee decreases.
3) If you have more than 100% of the registrations fee in League Credits,
i) You can save the 100% as League Credit for a future seasons, and cash the rest.
ii) Keep all of it as League Credits for future seasons. They can be added to League Credits in future seasons matching their rates. For example, if you have 140% League Credits, 100% can used for next season, and 40% for the succeeding season (the rest paid with cash); or one could gain 60% more League Credits in the next season, and use the 40% + 60% for the third season. The additions are subject to rates of the succeeding seasons, and as a rule of thumb, they can be matched up to 3 succeeding seasons.
iii) Cash all of it. Once cashed, they can’t be used for the future season(s).
Note that if not in Indian currency, the conversion rate for Euro/Pound/US Dollar at the end of the season will be, and not the one used before the start of the League.
We are expected to start our next season between 3-8 months from the end of the current season. If it does not start within that time, we will automatically cash all your League Credits at the end of the 8th month (240 days), and you can pay this same amount for the registrations next season.
If you wish to cash your League Credits before 8 months, you will have to pay the full amount when and if you join in a future season.
Free/discounted tickets
We have 3 free tickets and one ticket with a 60% discount on base price for season 2, thanks to the donation of League Credits by participants from the first season.
The first four students of the ages 18, 19, or 20 to fill and submit the registration form, will receive free tickets or a 60% discount on one ticket.
It is reserved for students who are hesitant to join or unable to pay for the registration, and who registers first in using the registration sheet.
Note that if the player chooses to not read the mandatory game, they have to pay 20% of the base price as usual.
ID proof to prove that the registrant is a student is mandatory. If applying, keep a digital copy of a student ID/college library card or some other document that proves that you’re a student, in the device through which you are filling out the registration form.
Promise-based tickets.
In return of a promise that the players will read 6 games to cover their League cost, we will allow registration without paying a registration fee.
Since there will be a fixed number of games to read, the number of such promise-based tickets is limited to 10. So, register first to avail it.
No age or educational limitations for this type of ticket.
You need to demonstrate that you can read games well (we will contact you over a phone or videoconferencing call to confirm this).
During the League, if participants give the feedback that your reading is not of an acceptable quality, we will investigate it, and if proven true, your eligibility for this ticket will be stricken, and you will have to pay the remaining amount (for the games you have not read).
Reward for referral
Like last time, we are offering a referral reward system. But unlike last time, ANYONE (participant or not) can earn League Credits and/or cash by inviting people to play in this league, and getting referred by them in the payment completion form.
You can use it to buy a ticket or keep it for yourself (ideally the former).
The referral reward is double that of last time i.e. 20% of the base price!
There is NO CAP on this. You can earn as much cash and/or League Credits as you want by getting maximum number of interested people to join.
There are some ground rules: i) We will not allow circular referrals (person A referring person B, and B referring A). ii) This offer will only be valid from 15 days after the registrations start so that people who have joined directly through our communication channels, and likely to register first, can’t give references for others. That is, the referral system will open on 29th June.
We will reimburse this reward by the end of July.
Discounts for students
We are are offering a 40% reduction in the base price for participants who are under-graduates (doing their Bachelors or equivalent) OR between the ages of 18 and 20 (including 18 and 20), even if they are not doing undergraduate studies.
We are also offering a 20% reduction in the base price for participants who are post-graduates (doing their Masters or equivalent) OR of the ages 21 or 22 even if they are not doing postgraduate studies.
If you can afford to spare the registration fee, even if you qualify for this discount, kindly pay the full price so that we can accommodate more people who can’t.
