EMU Quiz League is back. Read about the dates and the deets

Hello fellow nerds. We are back again like the Santa Claus (except we are real) for spreading the cheer of niche quizzing. We will be hosting the second season of the biggest online quizzing event worldwide, that is specifically dedicated to nature, science and technology, spread across 8 weeks of educative and joyful battles amongst strangers and familiar faces from many nooks of the globe.

It is a quiz league that is anticipated by many, due to the specific themes in covers. You can have a look at the archives to see how the Season 1 of EMU looked like. Due to the amount of time and effort it takes to prepare for one season, we will likely be running only one season per year or perhaps even one every two years. So, don’t forget to share this with your friends, family or acquaintances who might also be interested. They will have to wait a long time to participate in the next season. The start date for Season 2 of the EMU Quiz League will be July 26th, 2024 (we had planned for mid-June, but there are too many uncertainties to start that early). Due to the several free tickets and offers we are providing this season (read all about it below), we are opening the registrations only on 13th June, at sharp 6 PM Indian Standard Time. We are closing the registrations on 24th July 2024, at sharp midnight.

For season 2, we are offering alternate methods by which one can participate without paying a single rupee/cent/pence!

• Three free tickets and one ticket with 60% off, are available to those in need, between the ages 18-20. The first people to apply gets them.

• 10 promise-based tickets, i.e. tickets given in lieu of a promise that the players will read 6 games to cover their League cost, are available. First come, first serve.

• ANYONE (participant or not) can earn League Credits and/or cash by inviting people to play in this league, and getting referred by the registrants in the registration form.

• Education and/or age based discounts: i) 40% reduction in the base price (!) for participants who are under-graduates (doing their Bachelors or equivalent) OR of the ages 18, 19 or 20 ii) 20% reduction in the base price for participants who are post-graduates (doing their Masters or equivalent) OR of the ages 21 or 22.

As a league, we are committed to making the experience of every participant the finest it can possibly be. For the next season, we are making a lot of changes to our League to ensure maximum quality. The article below contains a TLDR version, as well as a very detailed version of the changes.

And as always, we will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the NGO Dogs of Delhi for spay/neuter and vaccination of feral/stray dogs and cats. Last season, we donated 50% of our proceeds (a total of 51,765.33 INR; see article below), which was used to spay/neuter and vaccinate against rabies, a total of 17 dogs & 9 cats. DoD works in ecologically sensitive areas like the Delhi Ridge, where the stray dog population can have a significant negative impact. Their work is bringing down their population there, while providing them with the best care.

Starting this season, we will only be able to donate a lesser proportion (10% this season) since running the League is a full-time work for some of us. So, we request participants to donate to them directly, if they can.

In addition to this Substack, WhatsApp community, Facebook group, Telegram channel, we have recently started a YouTube channel which contains games from every game-week of the last season (if you had participated in the last season, your game might be there), as well an Instagram page where we post questions from the previous season, with engaging visual designs.
